ARAU, August 24 - Every year the celebration of Independence Day has become a compulsory event for all Malaysians regardless of age.
However, the festive celebration would be meaningless if it did not heed the true meaning of independence.
In line with the celebration, Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) has organized a number of activities to nurture the spirit of nationalism among its citizens.
UniMAP Vice-Chancellor, Brig. Gen. Datuk Prof. Dr. Kamarudin Hussin said the theme “sehati sejiwa” this year is should be appreciated by all race in order to maintain stability.
Shah Alam, August 23 - Universiti Malaysia Perlis Contingent (UniMAP) was crowned as the overall champion of the 40th Malaysia University Staff Sports (SUKUM) at the same time maintaining it’s champion streak for the eighth time in a row at the closing ceremony in Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) last night.
UniMAP won the overall title after winning six events namely senior men’s athletic, senior women's athletic, senior men’s tenpin bowling, senior women’s tenpin bowling, senior men’s soccer and senior men’s lawn bowl.
Second place belongs to the host, UiTM, while third place went to Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM).
Kangar, 18 August – The secretariat of Universtiti Malaysia Perlis' (UniMAP) 10th Convocation Festival (Festkon) has begun promotional programmes when they participated in the aerobics exercise activity organised by Media Prima Berhad in conjunction with the Jelajah DramaSangat TV3 dan TV9 programme that was held at the Dato' Sheikh Ahmad Square recently.
According to Festkon 10 Director Muhammad Ilyas Md Yusof, this was one of the avenues of promoting Festkon 10 to the public.
“Besides the exercise, our presence here is to mingle among the Perlis community to explain about Festkon 10 which is expected to take place from 16 to 21 September at the UniMAP Main Campus, Pauh Putra.
Shah Alam, 17 August – Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) athletes chosen to represent the university during the 40th Kejohanan Sukan Universiti-universiti Malaysia (SUKUM) must show a high spirit of competitiveness in the events they participate in.
UniMAP Vice Chancellor Brig. Jen. Datuk Prof. Dr. Kamarudin Hussin said that the athletes should also prioritise discipline and sportsmanship to uphold the image and reputation of UniMAP among other Public Universities (UA).
“Each team dreams of being a champion, but let the championship be won in the spirit of fair play. As defending champions, we must not be coddled by our past wins. We must commit ourselves to retain the titles for this year,” he said.
